STAY: Luxury Couples Retreat with Hot-tub, The Arches at Lindores in Fife, Scotland
The biting winds of winter in Fife can be fierce, sweeping across the coastal plains and chilling you to the bone. Grey skies hang heavy, casting a melancholic pall over the landscape. Days shorten, and the warmth of summer seems a distant memory. In such times, the allure of a rural retreat becomes irresistible.
Imagine escaping the bluster to a cosy cottage nestled amongst rolling hills. A crackling fire warms the stone walls, while the scent of a hearty Shepherds Pie fills the air. Outside, a hot tub awaits, offering a blissful respite from the cold.
Welcome to The Arches, Lindores Farm - here, you can rediscover tranquility, reconnect with nature, and find solace in the simple pleasures of life – a good book, a steaming mug of hot chocolate, and the gentle rhythm of the Scottish countryside.
REVIEW OF THE ARCHES, LUXURY COTTAGE IN SCOTLAND WITH HOT TUB
Lindores, situated just a few minutes from Newburgh in Fife and about an hour's drive from Edinburgh, is a fully operational farm teeming with diverse activities and attractions. This charming farm is home to a variety of animals, including the iconic Highland cows (affectionately known as Highland coos), and boasts an equestrian centre, The Hide (a bespoke BBQ cabin offering intimate dining experiences) and offer four luxury self catering holiday houses. We stayed for two nights in the gorgeous couples retreat known as The Arches.

The Arches is truly a place to indulge in a luxurious escape. The cottage is self-catering, boasting a state-of-the-art kitchen complete with all the modern conveniences. From high-end appliances like an induction hob and integrated dishwasher to top-of-the-line cookware and a stylish dining area, this culinary haven is perfect for aspiring chefs and discerning foodies alike. Whether you're whipping up a gourmet feast for the two of you or simply enjoying a leisurely breakfast, the kitchen is designed to enhance your stay and make you feel right at home. Of course you can opt to not cook, and choose the SupperBox which is a three course meal box, ready for you just to pop in the oven OR you can opt for an Online Food Shop to be delivered to your cottage each day.
The Arches at Lindores boasts stunning interiors that seamlessly blend rustic charm with contemporary elegance. Large windows frame exquisite Scottish landscapes, and I particularly enjoyed the cosy window seat in the lounge, perfect for observing the amusing antics of grouse. The lounge area is the ideal space to relax and unwind, featuring plush seating and a cosy wood-burning stove/fireplace, perfect for curling up with a good book.
However, it was the hot tub and sauna that truly stole the show. The mid-December air was bitterly cold, with temperatures hovering around freezing. Yet, the alluring mist rising from the hot tub proved irresistible, and we couldn't resist a dip.
Upstairs, The Arches truly shines. The master suite bedroom, featuring a luxurious super king-sized bed, seamlessly transitions into a private spa sanctuary. This lavish space boasts a spacious freestanding bath, perfect for long, indulgent soaks. A charming Scandinavian-inspired sauna, ideal for couples, adds another layer of relaxation. Completing this haven of tranquillity are a twin shower and underfloor heating, ensuring ultimate comfort and a truly unforgettable experience. At The Arches, relaxation is paramount, and every detail has been meticulously considered to melt away your worries and leave you feeling rejuvenated.
A noteworthy detail is the glass screen separating the bath and shower, intricately etched with a depiction of the surrounding Lindores landscape. This artistic touch adds a unique and captivating element to the space.
Further enhancing the luxurious experience are thoughtful details such as mood lighting, a Bluetooth sound system, plush white towels, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Lindores Farm offers a unique balance of activity and tranquility. While opportunities abound – from farm tours and hunting to whisky tasting, BBQs at the "Hide," and equestrian activities (all easily arranged through the farm) – relaxation is equally encouraged. Explore nearby St Andrews or Dundee (both within a 30-minute drive); discover more about Dundee HERE.
However, if your sole purpose is a luxurious escape and pure pampering, Lindores is unparalleled. The Arches provide unparalleled privacy and seclusion, despite the presence of two neighbouring lodges. You'll feel worlds away from the rest of the world. Between the sauna, the hot tub, the indulgent bath, the crackling wood-burning stove, and an abundance of cosy seating areas, simply unwinding and savouring the tranquillity becomes the most effortless and enjoyable activity of all.
