REVIEW : Cozze Restaurant, Woodley, Berkshire
Review by TartanSpoonie Kim, covering Berkshire and London areas
Cozze is my local restaurant and probably one of the better restaurants in this area. Cozze are a great family restaurant serving up Italian dishes.
On the menu, you’ll find bowls of pasta, filled pasta, pizzas, calzones and risottos. Classic dishes are served such as PENNE ARRABBIATA - crushed chilli and garlic in tomato sauce (£8.95); CRAB AND CRAYFISH RAVIOLI - large ravioli in a cream sauce with rocket, cherry tomato, red chilli, red onion, garlic and grana padano cheese (£13.95) and the pizza on every Italian menu, the MARGHERITA - Tomato, mozzarella cheese (£8.25).
You’ll also find Mussels and Fries (£14.75); Chicken Piri Piri (£14.75) and what we came for, burgers. This restaurant caters well for gluten freebies (pizzas and pastas), vegans (calzone and baked dishes) and vegetarians.
Not the norm menu item for an Italian restaurant, but due to the lack of decent burger joints around here, I was eager to try them.
COZZE RESTAURANT READING BERKSHIRE
We all chose the Cheese Burger with mozzarella cheese, relish, lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion, mayonnaise and ketchup (Regular £10.95 / Large £12.95)
You can also pick from the Piri Piri Burger, Chicken Burger or the Mushroom and Beetroot Burger.
The burger was well cooked and dense but packed full of flavour, and well smothered in mozzarella (no skimping here). Fries were skinny fries and perfect for dunking in ketchup.
The bun was super soft and hugged the burger.
We ended our meal off with these divine Raspberry and Prosecco Profiteroles. These are a new item on the menu and well worth trying.
We were very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back for a burger or two.
