NEWS : Porters Gin unveils new brand and bottle design
Porter’s Gin has unveiled a striking new design. Rolling out across markets throughout June, the bespoke bottle will be accompanied by an update to the award-winning gin’s branding and logo which has been developed by design agency Stranger & Stranger.
With a brief to elevate the original bottle to strengthen visibility and communicate the brand story, the team worked closely with Stranger & Stranger to create a modern, botanical-led design that captures the light and refreshing style of Porter’s cold-distilled Gin. The bespoke green glass bottle widens towards the base which is embossed with the Porter’s Gin statement “Made in a bar, not in a boardroom”, which encapsulates the brand story. The Porter’s Gin visual logo of a rotary evaporator is also embossed onto the neck of the bottle whilst a wooden lid and cork stopper have been carried over from the original bottle for consistency.
The new labels feature a bold new written logo and an artist’s impression of the key botanicals in each expression. Modern Classic features juniper and Buddha’s hand citrus, whilst Tropical Old Tom Gin features guava and passionfruit. A delicate foil border enhances the labelling along with key messages including where the gin is made (Aberdeen). Playful details including an Old Tom Cat hidden within the botanicals of the Tropical Old Tom can also be found, highlighting the gin brand’s down to earth, fuss-free approach.
The brand and bottle redesign has been developed to coincide with the international expansion of Porter’s Gin which has seen great success in its ultra-competitive category since it launched less than three years ago. Available in nine markets including Singapore, Japan, China and France, Porter’s Gin plans to launch into the US, India, Australia and several other European markets in 2019.
With a passion for creating better drinks, Founders Ben, Josh and Alex turned the basement of their bar in Aberdeen, Scotland into one of the UK’s most innovative micro-distilleries. Since then, Porter’s has established itself as the gin of choice amongst bartenders in some of the leading cocktail bars around the world. Cold distilled for a light and natural flavour, the team uses low temperature distillation as part of the process, enabling them to extract the flavours of delicate botanicals such as pink peppercorn and Buddha’s hand citrus. The resulting gins have a refined, natural and fresh flavour profile, making them perfect for long drinks, aperitifs and highballs.
