Street food is massive at the moment - its quick and easy and pretty darn tasty offering that quick bite without all the hassle of sitting in a restaurant.
Dobbies Garden Centre, Melville, Edinburgh has jumped on the street food wagon and opened their new eating space - The Garden Hatch.
Dobbies is Scotland’s largest garden centre. They’ve just undergone a massive refurbishment and have overhauled their 650 seater restaurant but have also catered for a younger crowd with this bright, vibrant, easy going, relaxed eatery which includes a blue and yellow Citroen van - the home of Mexican street food.
The space has splashes of bright pink, yellow and blue all installed by Thomas Paints across the floors, the tables, chairs and onto the blocks that house the cacti.
The Garden Hatch is offering up Nachos, Tacos, Quesadillas, ice cold beers and cold drinks from Jarritos Mexico.
You have three basic fillings that can go on the nachos, the tacos and the quesadillas - the pork, the chicken or the pablano peppers and onions; costing between £5.50 and £6.50.
The tacos most certainly done it for me. We tried the pork ones and I loved how it was piled with cheese, red onions and sweetcorn. They also have some great sauces to spice it all up if it’s a little too mild and you fancy a wee party in your mouth.
Then there are the desserts of Quesadillas and Churros with various fillings (all £4.00 each)

It’s a completely chilled out vibe and definitely a great place to hang solo whilst tucking into a quesadilla and perhaps working away on your laptop, or to hang out as a group of friends pre or post garden shopping. Its open daily 11am-5pm
