SOMETHING FOR THE FOODIE

I think every single one of us has become a foodie and if you cant make up your mind what you want food wise, here are some suggestions

GOOD WINE BROTHERS - have launched ’Good Brothers To Go’ which provides a succinct service and curated offering of locally sourced foodie gift boxes, including wine, cheese, chocolate and more allowing you bring the delights of the wine bar to your home.

TARTANSPOON WEEKLY WRAP - NEWS FOR YOU TO DIGEST

NATIONAL GIN DAY & EVERY OTHER DRINKING DAY

This Saturday 13th June is National Gin Day - a perfect excuse to have a large G&T (like we needed one!)

BOODLES GIN - proud to reveal its latest release, Boodles Rhubarb & Strawberry Gin. The refreshing pink gin is bursting with berries and carries a delightfully sweet and tart fruity flavour, featuring garden-fresh rhubarb and juicy strawberries.

AMARULA - if gin ain’t your thing, then perhaps Amarula Strawberries and Cream is.

GLEN MORAY - have just released their limited edition Glen Moray Madiera Cask. Perfect gift for Fathers Day

LOST ORCHARDS CIDER - a fantastic Scottish cider made in Dundee. They have 3 flavours - Scottish Dark Fruits, Scottish Red Berries and Lime and Scottish Pure Apple. Order direct from them.

SUPPORT LOCAL

We have all done this so well supporting our local food and drink producers and suppliers during lockdown and I hope that it continues once restrictions are lifted.

SCOTLAND FOOD AND DRINK DIRECTORY - a brilliant resource to find amazing food and drink suppliers across Scotland.

EAST COAST CURED - always being creative and they have recently launched a new rare breed Nduja using saddleback pork from BRANDS EAST FORTUNE. Exactly the same recipe as their classic nduja but the higher fat content of the pig gives it a smooth, creamy texture. They are also stocking some of my favourite condiments from THE SPICE WITCH

HELLO AND GOODBYE

Some of our favourite places will start to open up and we will loose some greats too.

We say a farewell to EDINBURGH FOOD STUDIO that wont reopen due to Covid and rent renewals not making it viable, but we look forward to seeing what Ben and Sasha come up with next.

Spirit of Speyside Distilled Festival has been cancelled this year but lets hope that this 2 day festival returns next year.

We say a hello and welcome back to THE SECRET HERB GARDEN, who reopen from today - Friday 5 June.

And a place where we cry tears of joy and happiness when we say hello or goodbye - airports! Virgin Atlantic will commence flights from Heathrow to New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Orlando from 20th July.

If you have any news or suggestions on who to feature, do let me know tartanspoon@yahoo.co.uk

Happy eating and drinking!
