STAY : Broxmouth Park Lodge by the Lake, East Lothian, Scotland

Secluded romantic hideaway with a hot-tub hiding away on the East Lothian coast. Less than an hours drive from Edinburgh City Centre, you’ll find Broxmouth Park Lodge by the Lake.

Broxmouth Park Lodge on the Lake a romantic hideaway with hot tub

Once you turn off into the Broxmouth Estate, you’ll continue past the house until you come upon this gorgeous wee lodge overlooking the lake. There is no-one else around and it’s super quiet except for the crash of the waves from the sea that lies just beyond the thicket of trees.

The lake is calm and reflective and comes with a wee pier you can walk out on. However look into the water and in the murky depths you’ll see the remnants of what once was a wee row boat.

Inside the lodge is tastefully decorated with modern furniture and a neutral colour palette. Comfy couch and a coffee table with games is what you’ll find in the open plan lounge with the breakfast separating the lounge from the kitchen area.

The kitchen comes fully equipped in terms of crockery and cutlery, fully cooker hob and fridge/freezer should you choose to stay long enough to want to cook.

Our welcome pack included a bunch of delicious goodies, ideal for midnight snacking as well as a continental breakfast in the morning.

The bedroom is to the rear of the lodge with a large comfy bed and the bathroom just off this.

Nice touches throughout make this a very comfortable, easy, relaxing place for a romantic get-away and some well needed time out.

The one reason we did book the lodge was because of the hot tub. We wanted to spend some quality time together just relaxing in the hot tub and switching off.

Of course we had to have bubbles too not just those coming from the hot tub. Bollinger is always a favourite and we couldn’t wait to hop in the hot tub and pop the cork.

We spent the entire afternoon in and out of the hot tub, watching the afternoon sun lazily set. Life slowed down and just eased by for a change.

That evening we had dinner at Chex Roux Greywalls in Gullane.

The following morning, it had clouded over but it as still warm and I took croissants and coffee out onto the deck. What a way to wake up in the morning. The birds singing and still absolutely no distractions from the outside world. Bliss.

Alas, just as we thought we’d have one last dip in the hot tub we received a visitor… speedily swimming across the pond.

A swan; and not a happy swan at that! We had to barricade the deck as he was attempting to come up the stairs and attack us. What a hoot! Maybe he just wanted my croissant!

This place is stunning. It’s very quiet. There is no TV, little telephone reception and intermittent 4G signal so you will have to talk to each other. It was brilliant time to reconnect with not only each other but nature too (minus the swan).

Prices start from £229 per night and it’s worth every penny.
