PRODUCT : Boba Bar Bubble Tea DIY Kits

I love Bubble Tea. I love those sticky wee tapioca balls and popping them in my mouth.

Bubble Tea, Boba Tea or Pearl Milk tea is essentially black tea, milk, ice, and those chewy tapioca pearls shaken like a polaroid picture and served in a clear glass/cup with a fat straw so you can watch those pearly balls being slurped up.

I have always bought my Bubble Tea as it always seemed a bit of a hassle to make it myself. Luckily Boba Bar London are now producing at home DIY Bubble Tea kits and all my Bubble Tea dreams have come true!

REVIEW BOBA BAR BUBBLE TEA DIY KITS

Boba Bar is a young company founded in 2019 by the lovely Amrita Raichura-Kaushal who fell in love with all things Bubble Tea whilst on her travels around the world. She opened a shop in Swiss Cottage London but during lockdown she and many Boba die-hards, missed their boba life and culture. DIY Bubble Tea kits were born.

The kits come in

  • Like It - 4 drink flavours of choice, 4 toppings of choice and 80g of complimentary tapioca pearls. £16.99

  • Love It - 8 drink flavours of choice, 8 toppings of choice and 130g of complimentary tapioca pearls. £24.99

  • Gotta Have it - 10 drink flavours of choice, 10 toppings of choice and 180g of complimentary tapioca pearls. £29.99

I tried the Like It DIY Kit. The kit contains everything you need to make your very own bubble tea at home and you can choose from a variety of flavours such as Coconut Rose Milk Tea, Honeydew Milk tea and Green Apple Fruit Tea; as well as various toppings when you order from their website.

Making the tea was fairly simple. The most effort you’ll need to make is cooking the tapioca pearls but the whole process takes less than five minutes to complete. Instructions and recipes are provided but feel free to make your own flavour bombs.

I chose to make a Strawberry and Peach Milk Tea. Think strawberry milkshake with a hint of peach. Yum! Beautifully creamy but still thin enough to drink without giving your cheeks a workout. Cream is optional.

I also made an Apple and Tapioca Fruit Tea which in this gorgeous sunny weather, was an ideal choice for a refreshing drink.

With 4 flavouring powders, 4 tea bags, 1 fructose syrup, 4 bamboo straws and 3 recipe cards, I can’t wait to make up some more flavour combos and get my Boba swag on.
