WHISKY NEWS : Glenmorangie opens the doors to its delicious and wonderful world to all

Glenmorangie single malt Highland Scotch whisky this month welcomes visitors into its delicious and wonderful world, as it throws open the doors of its Distillery as part of the LVMH Journées Particulières global event. During its open weekend on 15th and 16th October, guests are invited to get hands-on with Glenmorangie’s wondrous whisky creation, enjoy masterclasses showcasing its delicious whiskies, and discover the single malt’s work to protect its endangered brand symbol, the giraffe, in the wild. 

NEWS - GLENMORANGIE WHISKY DISTILLERY OPEN WEEKEND

Glenmorangie is one of 57 LVMH houses across 15 countries offering access to the public, alongside brands such as Moët & Chandon and Tiffany & Co. The event gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at some of the Group’s most well-known houses across the globe, sharing the secrets of their craft and showcasing the imagination and exacting standards which go into creating the finest products. It is the fifth time the Distillery has opened its doors to the community without charge.

As they explore the Distillery, guests will be invited to join its award-winning manager Ed Thom for whisky tastings. And take Distillery tours to discover the endless imagination of Glenmorangie’s whisky creators: they craft their more delicate, fruity spirit in giraffe-high stills to create more space for taste and aroma, then age it in the finest casks. At masterclasses, visitors can enjoy Glenmorangie’s newest limited edition, its most popular malts and cocktails made with X by Glenmorangie, a single malt made for mixing. Meanwhile, they can discover how deliciously whisky pairs with food, at cookery demonstrations by chefs from Glenmorangie House, the brand’s boutique Highland hotel. 

Visitors will also have the chance to find out more about Glenmorangie’s efforts to sustain and protect the natural world, including its ground-breaking project to restore extinct oyster reefs in the Dornoch Firth. Together with partners Heriot-Watt University and the Marine Conservation Society, the brand has now returned 30,000 oysters to the sea, with many more planned for the future.

And Glenmorangie will also showcase its work to protect the endangered giraffe in the wild in Africa, with experts on hand from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to explain more. Tain and District Development Trust will also share details of its community-led projects such as the Tain Picture House Restoration, tourism destination development and business support programme.

There will be activities for guests of all ages to enjoy too, with music from the Tain Pipe Band, cask filling, face painting and refreshments available from local food providers. Ed Thom said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming visitors into our delicious and wonderful world, as part of Les Journées Particulières. Whether they are already single malt lovers or entirely new to whisky, I’m looking forward to sharing our creativity, skill, imagination – and above all, the joy of Glenmorangie.”
