EVENT : Secret Garden Party, Lothianburn

Whenever I get an invite to the Secret Herb Garden, it’s immediately followed by a ‘yes’ reply. Any excuse to head out to this lovely garden and escape the world for a while.

The Secret Herb Garden is 7.5 acres of hedgerow, herbs, plants, including polytunnels, greenhouses, a schools and drying room, a distillery, cafe, a shop and now the gin garden where they grow all their own botanicals that go into making their Old Curiosity colour changing gin.

The Secret Garden Party was to launch their new gin - Pink Elderflower and Jasmine.

I have to apologise to Apothecary Rose, as this was always my favourite of the old Curiosity gins, but that crown has just been stolen by the Elderflower and Jasmine.

The relaxing property of Elderflower is perfectly complemented by the restorative nature of Jasmine in this beautifully balanced fusion of fine botanicals. The liquid beautifully balanced fusion of fine botanicals. The liquid changes from salmon pink to vibrant pink when you splash a dash of tonic.

We got to sample alot of gin and they win massive brownie points on the ‘green’ front with their straws made from chive stalks!

It was the most glorious of Summer evenings - the gin was flowing and the BBQ was on.

A new feature of the Secret Herb Garden is the gin garden that will be stunning this time next year. This was late evening and the sun was just setting. Totally magical.

Old Curiosity Gin run Gin Garden and Distillery Tours which includes tasting all of their gins. £15.00 pp booked via their website.

The Secret Herb Garden is a wonderful place for young and old. It has a little bit of something for everyone.
