REVIEW : EAT - Kyloe Sunday Roast

The good ol Sunday Roast has become more significant than ever during lockdowns. Firstly, it’s a marker because who actually knows what day of the week it is. Secondly, it’s food in abundance. I know I’ve overindulged during lockdowns but it goes without saying, everyone over eats when it comes to a Sunday Roast, and this is one meal where you can over eat, guilt free. And thirdly, it’s a reminder that we have other clothes in our wardrobe; yes Sunday Roast demands a change out of pyjamas! All hail the Sunday Roast.

Mclarens on the Corner and Kyloe Edinburgh bring you a fantastic lockdown Sunday Roast; and let’s be honest if you’ve made the effort of changing out your jammies, you may as well order in. After all, you want your energy spent on the eating, not the cooking!

REVIEW : KYLOE EDINBURGH, SUNDAY ROAST

Available for 2, 4 or 6 people, their roast includes all of the standard trimmings. They do 95% of the work for you, leaving you to do the final cook at home which is super simple and easy, and like their Steak My Home Box, comes with a Cooking Sheet, which allows you to put in your own ‘in the oven’ and ‘out the oven’ timings and everything goes in the one oven pan (just at various times so that it all comes out ready at the one time).

The online ordering process is simple:

  1. Choose your beef: Roast Rib of Beef for for 2, 1kg Rib of Beef for 4, 1.5kg Rib of Beef for 6.

  2. Included sides: Roast potatoes in beef dripping, Yorkshire puddings, creamed cabbage and bacon, roasted root vegetables, horseradish cream and gravy

  3. Add any extras: Feel free to add additional sides

I didn’t choose any sides as the whole Sunday Roast as is, is plenty of food for two people to get through.

The Roast Rib of Beef was cooked medium rare (timings are given to you on the cooking sheet) but it wasn’t as melt in the mouth as the Chateaubriand fillet from the night before (read my review of their Steak Me Home Box here) - perhaps I had just been spoilt (more than likely). The meat was still deliciously tender but required a decent amount of seasoning post cooking.

The yorkies were impressive! Puffy with an outer crunch and the softer, chewier bits in the middle. They are however the perfect gravy boat and the ideal well for dunking veg, tatties and meat into. I loved the diced root veg (carrots, parsnips and turnips), they were soft and sweet which was a nice contrast to the tatties. Creamed cabbage was decent and overall this was a very tasty Sunday Roast.

I think this Sunday Roast is an absolute steal, starting at around £40 depending on what you order. They can deliver to you within a 2.2 mile radius or you can collect.

When you make the decision to change oot yur jammies, make sure you’ve got this Sunday Roast on order!

My Spoon Award : Gold Spoon 9/10

I was invited by Mclarens on the Corner/Kyloe to review their Sunday Roast. Food was complimentary but the views are very much my own.
