Katy Cloud Marshmallow is a producer of handmade artisan marshmallow, based in the Scottish Borders. These small batches of hand cut marshmallows are made with unique flavours, including some childhood favourites like Lemon Sherbet to the sophisticated grown-up flavour of Gin & Tonic – which was awarded a 2-star award by the Guild of Fine Foods/Great Taste Awards.
The aim of Katy Cloud Marshmallows is to make a quality, delicious product, using only using fresh season Scottish ingredients where possible, that makes people happy and changes the way they view the humble marshmallow.
There is no comparison between mass produced marshmallows to handmade artisan marshmallows – handmade marshmallows are the lightest of light, with unmatched volume and subtlety of flavour.
Katy Cloud was set up in July of 2015, by Inge Armstrong. She was looking for something to do/supplement her income, and came across a recipe for marshmallows (She’d always loved them, but was surprised that they could be made at home, as she thought it could only be made in a factory). She gave it try. She gave them to friends and family and it has grown from there.
Inge works part-time for the Food and Drink Federation Scotland, and when not working spends time with her daughter and creates marshmallows.
The business has grown over the last few years, and she is now concentrating her efforts to get her marshmallows into more farm shops and deli’s in Scotland.
